Betty loves being her own boss allowing her freedom, not just creatively but how she chooses to interact with her clients. She likes to believe that they have a friendship not just a purchase commitment. Inspiration for her can come from anything, paintings, flowers, sunlight reflecting colours, homewares and other cake artists.
The future will always be creating and exploring for Betty and she hopes to eventually offer styling more than just her amazing dessert tables, but everything you could imagine from centrepieces, custom invitations, gifting ideas to the smallest detail.

We tend to associate candles with festive occasions—gathering around a birthday cake or enjoying a meal with someone special—but there are many calming effects of candlelight. One of the more powerful ways to enjoy the beauty of candlelight is during a moment of stillness and solitude, when you turn off the world and tune into yourself.
Luna & Luxe was born when Lisa was on maternity leave from her job as a naturopath and nutritionist. Needing to find a job that was flexible to work around her newborn, her sister taught her how to make candles.
She now hand pours candles in small batches and mixes her own fragrances for them. Lisa tells me that she was the world’s most uncreative person until starting her business…now she hand paints vessels, design products and has gained a whole new appreciation for creativity and art.
The freedom and flexibility that comes with running Luna & Luxe works well with two young children and Lisa loves making her own way and succeeding in business.
Exciting things will be coming too along with a super cute Christmas range and some gorgeous new glass too!

We all know that a scented candle is a fabulous luxury, bringing you peace and joy at the end of a hard day and don't they make a great gift for friends and family!
Dearne from Endear Soy Candles individually hand pours her candles using both essential oils and fragrances into both modern and vintage style jars and containers.
After 15 years of working in an office, Dearne started Endear Soy Candles 2 years ago, because she wanted to create a more natural candle that wasn't overpowering, hence the use of essential oils.
She now loves the freedom that owning her own business gives her and adapting her product as she grows. When she first began making candles she only used essential oils, but has slowly progressed to using fragrances as well in order to appeal to a wider audience.
Dearne is very hands on as she hand blends the essential oils, chooses all the jars and designs all the labels and she just LOVES the creative process that goes into the final product!
"Having someone come in and tell me that they love a scent or jar that I have chosen; the looks on peoples faces
when they smell a candle for the first time and they are like 'Wow that smells amazing!'"
The future of Endear Soy Candles will see the addition of more body products and the launch of their own range of essential oils.
To compliment her candle making skills, Dearne has also spent the last 4 years studying to be a Naturopath and graduated at the end of last year (Congratulations!) so she is also busy building a client base for her Naturopath Clinic in Renmark. She also became an xtend barre instructor at the beginning of the year, so keeping a variety of skills and things on the go must keep her very busy, but all seems to be a good balance.
Meet Dearne on the gathered. cart from next Monday 12th - Sunday 18th December, in the middle of the mall of the Fresh Food Market at Westfield Marion or contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Zefertiti is an Adelaide design label creating wearable art and printed design. As well as a much loved range of T shirts, Zefertiti brings some quirky screen printed designs on hoodies and long sleeves for men, women and children of all ages and sizes. Zefertiti T shirts and hoodies are lovely to wear and are made from fine quality materials sourced from earth positive trade fair companies. Original designs are screen printed onto long lasting soft cottons, modal (tree bark) mix and bamboo.
Being a lover of a good original T shirt and after making hand-made one offs for friends and family, Zefertiti was born and launched in 2013. Cathy wanted to branch out from her fine art practice by making wearable art, by using graphics and smaIl-scale designs. She was interested in making shirts that didn’t have slogans or words on them as she noticed that there wasn’t a lot of T shirts that weren’t branded.
She dreams up the original designs and then has them screen printed in Adelaide on various different styles of shirts. Limited print runs are done by hand with long-lasting solvent free inks to compliment the soft texture T shirts. No plastic feel here!
The designs usually start with a small thing, like a geometric pattern or a photograph, sometimes using animals in some way, and then Cathy works on making a pattern out of it.
She is always working on some project as she is a multidisciplinary artist who works across the fields of graphics, painting, photography and mixed media installation. She creates works for exhibition and is actively involved in community and urban arts projects, often using recycled materials and collaborative processes.
Currently showing at the Prospect Council Civic Centre are 10 large light boxes. These panels are reproductions from her “Imaginarium” series (2008), which focuses on interior spaces painted onto wallpaper samples. Illuminated at night, up on the rear of the building they are a surprising visual delight for evening visitors.
Cathy is currently working on a photographic project for an exhibition in January called “Curious Objects”. It involves constructing my own objects out of collected materials to photograph like portraits.
The beauty and diversity of nature (including animals) inspired Cathy and gives her a source of fresh ideas. She doesn't want to just copy it, but rather likes to bring a bit of humour and also reflect on environmental issues.
